Q: What is Broadband?
A: Broadband in telecommunication means a wide range of frequencies that are available to transmit information. The wider the range of frequency available the more data that can be transmitted at a given amount of time.
Q: What units are used to measure bandwidth?
A: Kilobits per second (Kb/s)
Q: How much faster is broadband than dial-up?
A: 10 times faster than dial up.
Q: What are the speeds that broadband operates at compared to dial up?
A: 512Kbps, 1Mb broadband, 2Mb broadband, 4Mb broadband, 8Mb broadband, 24Mb broadband, 50Mb broadband.
Q: What are some advantages of using broadband connection to download something like a video compared to dial up?
A: The video will load faster. The video loads through some data coming to your computer at a time. Broadband had greater bandwidth and therefore more data will be downloaded at once than a dial up connection.
Q: Create an image in paint that illustrates how a high bandwidth connection can move more data compared to a dial up connection at a given time.

audacity..
The music in the above video is a ring tone I remixed using the program Audacity.
Audacity is a program that can manipulate and edit sounds and recordings, creating a new composition of your choice. When I made my ringtone I used Audacity to remix 3 songs downloaded by Youtube.
The first step was finding the songs I was going to use. I decided on making a "diva" remix using 3 famous songs and taking extracts from each.
I decided on recording my voice saying "This is a diva remix" and changing the pitch to be higher. This is so it sounds like a little girl is saying it.
The first of the three songs added to my ringotne was We Are Who We Are by Kesha. I added this song by importing the song from my file into Audacity. From Audacity I editted the song so that it wasn't so long and only 10-15 seconds of the song was playing. This extract of the song was placed after the recording. To edit the song I used the Selection Tool to highlight the bits of the song I didn't need and deleted it. I also used the Time Shift Tool to move the song further down the timeline so that it started after the recording.
The other two songs I used were Diva by Beyonce and S&M by Rihanna.

Movie Maker- How to organise your project
1. CREATE FOLDER- For project (Location- S:drive. Never have only one copy on memory stick)
2. Place in folder
(video files, music, still images) - resources
3. Open M.M...
Import resources
----> Cannot import from network location ie. S:drive
----> Therefore suggest copy S:drive folder to desktop each lesson
4. Saving
----> Project file- remember last location of resources (eg. "work in progress")
---->Movie FIle- all resources embedded in ONE file (eg. "completed work")
----> Different resolution (HD takes up more space and has more pixels.) (eg. standard definition is recommended)
